The Benet boys' varsity basketball team lost at #13 St. Viator by a score of 71-68 on Friday, January 24. The loss drops the Redwings' record to 11-5 and 1-2 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference. The Redwings led by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter, but Lion guard Ore Arogundade hit a runner with 11 seconds left to give St. Viator a 69-68 lead. Sean O'Mara, who posted a career-high 39 points for the second consecutive game, was fouled on the next Benet possession but missed both free throws. St. Viator hit two free throws with 0.9 seconds left, and O'Mara's desperation three at the buzzer just missed.
Benet's next game is tonight against Milwaukee-Hamilton, who is led by UCLA commit Kevon Looney. The contest will be played at Hinsdale Central High School.
