The Benet boys' varsity basketball team lost its second consecutive game on Saturday, January 25 to Milwaukee Hamilton High School by a score of 61-59. The game was played at Hinsdale Central High School, and the Redwings' record now stands at 11-6. #18 Benet led by a score of 30-11 in the first half, but an enormous run by Hamilton gave the Wildcats a 42-32 lead early in the fourth quarter. Benet was able to cut the lead to 5 points late in the game, but the Redwings scored only one point after a Hamilton intentional foul gave the Redwings three technical free throws and possession of the ball. Benet still trailed by 5 when Collin Pellettieri hit a three-point shot that appeared to pass through the bottom of the net with time remaining on the clock, but the referees did not grant Benet a timeout and ruled that the game was over.
Benet's next contest was scheduled for tonight against Joliet Catholic, but the game has been postponed due to weather. The Redwings will face St. Patrick on Friday night at home.
